How to approach this mandate
No application form. No CV portal. Read the position brief, then speak with Harald directly, under confidence.
The client is not named here. On an engaged mandate the client's hiring intent is commercially sensitive, so the organisation is identified to you under confidence in the first partner conversation — not published to their competitors.
The remit
Why this role exists now. And what it carries.
Across the Netherlands, corporates and MKB companies are migrating to SAP S/4HANA and finding the core ERP insufficient on its own. Competitive advantage now comes from what sits on top: integrations connecting SAP to the rest of the enterprise, cloud-native extensions replacing custom ABAP, and analytics turning transactional data into real-time intelligence.
That is SAP BTP, and it is an architecture discipline rather than a configuration one. CIOs, enterprise architects and transformation leads are looking for someone who can design and deliver across integration, application development, data management and AI on one platform, with the consultative weight to defend those decisions.
The client needs the platform authority who owns BTP workstreams end to end — architecture definition through implementation, testing and governance — across Dutch corporate and MKB landscapes.
What the role carries
- Architect and implement integration scenarios in SAP Cloud Integration, connecting S/4HANA with third-party SaaS, legacy systems and hyperscaler services.
- Design event-driven architectures on SAP Event Mesh and Advanced Event Mesh, with topic-based pub/sub and AMQP messaging.
- Build cloud-native side-by-side extensions using SAP CAP, SAP Business Application Studio and SAP Build, replacing classic ABAP enhancements and reducing core modification debt.
- Design data landscapes in SAP Datasphere and SAP Analytics Cloud — data models, flows, replication, federation and semantic layers grounded in S/4HANA data.
- Embed SAP AI Core, AI Launchpad and Joule into real business processes, from invoice automation to demand forecasting, with GenAI Hub and LLM integration patterns.
- Define the BTP security posture: Cloud Identity Services, identity provisioning, role collections, OAuth 2.0 grants, SAML 2.0 SSO and Cloud Connector setup.
- Govern the platform layer — subaccount design, entitlements, multi-landscape CTS+ transport management and CI/CD pipelines — and run governance workshops with IT leadership.
The brief
The challenge, the mandate, and the impact.
The challenge
The client has S/4HANA in place or in flight, and no settled architecture for what sits on top. Integration patterns, extension strategy, data landscape and platform governance are each being decided locally, creating debt as fast as capability. The constraint is one architect who can hold all four and be trusted by the CIO office.
The mandate
Owns BTP workstreams end to end: architecture definition, implementation, testing, security posture and platform governance across subaccounts, entitlements and transport. Specification authority over in-scope developments and CI/CD pipelines. No line management; the authority is architectural.
The impact
- 30–90 days
- S/4HANA landscape, BTP subaccount structure and integration patterns mapped; at least one BTP workstream owned end to end with documented solution design; a platform governance workshop run with IT leadership; scope integration-tested across data flows, API endpoints and security configuration.
- 6 months
- Go-live delivered or final testing advanced, the architecture documentation standing as the operational reference, and recognition as the BTP architect the project team and client leadership reach for by name.
